Get it while you can… Urban Decay Anarchy Face Case

Deal alert! Sephora still has Urban Decay’s Anarchy Face Case in stock, on sale for $29. This is such a steal considering the original price was $44. This palette includes five eyeshadows (four new, one re-release), two blushes, one highlighter, a travel-size eye pencil and full-size lip pencil.

Urban Decay - Anarchy Face Case

I recommend this palette for the amazing value at the sale price. Currently this particular shade of Super Saturated High Gloss Lip Color, Scandal, is available only on Urban Decay’s web site and retails for $20. I don’t wear a lot of bold lip color but this one is SO PRETTY. The 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Perversion (one of my all-time fave products) is a travel-size but according to my math is approximately a $13 value. Even if the shadows don’t seem enticing (which is understandable as four of the five are glittery!) the lip pencil and eyeliner make this worth the money, think of everything else as a bonus. Additionally, I was impressed with the quality of the blushes- they’re so smooth and pigmented, a real find since UD only sells the Naked Flushed palettes and no individual blushes at this time. The down side is I felt like the eyeshadows don’t wear quite as long as other UD products I’ve used in the past and they’re mostly glittery with quite a bit of fallout.

I’ve seen other bloggers venture into depotting everything from the case, which can be tricky because of the mirrors on the top of both sections. For now I’ll keep it all together- I wouldn’t say this is the most versatile palette I own, but everything works in harmony for a fantastic evening look. This was a holiday release so these colors are ready to party! Pick up this little steal and stash it in your desk drawer to transition to happy hour.

Here’s a quick look I did for going out to dinner with friends last night! I used all the shadows except Provocateur, the glittery mauve.

Moved my bangs so the eyeshadow is more visible. 🙂

photo(1)Eyes: Fray (matte mauve) from lashline to brow, Vaporize (shimmery taupe with silver glitter) on lids,
Redemption (dark frosty gray with silver glitter) in crease and on lower lashline, Revolt (metallic silver with silver glitter) on inner corner with a dab on the browbone, eye pencil in Perversion, Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara and Benefit Stay Don’t Stray eye primer in light/medium.

Cheeks: Quickie (matte hot pink) blush and Craze (sheer shimmery gold) highlighter.

Lips: Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Lip Pencil in Ozone, Urban Decay Lip Primer Potion (not currently available, I picked up two of these on sale for more than 50% off over the holidays, so I have a feeling it’s about to relaunch with a reformulation or new packaging), Urban Decay Super Saturated High Gloss Lip Color in Scandal (metallic raspberry pink).

Coming up: my Sephora order should be delivered today, which means I’ll have my first look at the Radiant Rush Matte Lipstick from the new Sephora + Pantone Color of the Year Radiant Orchid collection! OOH…AHHH 🙂 It’s finally up online and I’m just drooling over the pretties, y’all. I’m also working on a post showing off my first-ever mini haul from my color junkie soul sisters at Sugarpill Cosmetics! Plus, the Urban Decay Electric Pressed Pigment Palette launches on urbandecay.com in 5 days! I’m still on the fence about when to buy…

Hello world!

Hello world!

My name is Amanda and this is my new beauty blog! All my life I have loved dressing up and playing with makeup- more than a few of my childhood teddy bears suffered from excessive applications of my mom’s blush and eyeshadow taken covertly from her vanity. When I was younger, I was in dance and though I wasn’t great at the actual dancing, I lived for the costumes and makeup used for performances. Of course, Halloween is possibly my favorite holiday because I love to create unique looks (hello, office costume contest winner!). About three years ago I got into buying up high-end products like crazy, and my family and friends have told me that I should share my enthusiasm for the transformative powers of makeup with others! I love to read and write, which lead me to graduate with a journalism degree in 2010. But here’s my secret- I’m thinking about switching industries to a career in makeup artistry. Shh! 😉 This is my space to create, play and share it all with the world. I love anything bold and colorful!

Winter weather is still hanging on, but spring product releases are everywhere. This quick look is my tribute, focusing on bright, spring pastel eyes. It was created with Kat Von D’s Esperanza palette (limited edition, Sephora exclusive). This is a great release packed with eight beautiful shades in a mix of pastels and brights with matte and shimmer finishes. I found it tricky to work with at first, but Too Faced Glitter Glue saved the day- it’s my go-to product for dealing with glitter fallout and powdery shades that appear sheer with my daily primer, Urban Decay Primer Potion Original.

Kat Von D - Esperanza Eyeshadow Palette

Products used include: eyes- Kat Von D eyeshadow from the Esperanza palette (Archangel and Selena), Anastasia brow powder, Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Perversion and Clinique High Impact mascara, lips- NARS lipstick in Dolce Vita (another fave!), skin- Urban Decay Naked Skin foundation. Soon I hope to post tutorials and full product lists for anyone interested in what I’m using (maybe even videos, who knows)! Anyone reading please let me know what you’d like to see. 🙂

Finally, I chose to call this blog “Create Something Beautiful Today” because every morning we all have the opportunity to do just that. I often think of my face as a blank canvas displaying beautiful yet fleeting art that will be washed away before bedtime. But creating beauty in life is not only about what we put on our faces, it’s about what we have in our hearts and minds. With a fresh face, we can create a beautiful life of our own choosing! I hope this blog will be a place where I can share my creativity and inspiration, and hopefully inspire others as well.

Dolce vita,

Amanda K
