Hello beauties! Sorry it’s been so long since I last posted. I have quite a few new products to review now that Sephora Chic Week is over, but my face has been breaking out like crazy! Can anyone recommend some good skincare? I have a sample of Clinique’s new Clinical Clearing Gel that I’ll try tonight, but I never know what to buy and I’m so afraid of irritating my skin!
Well, spring has sprung, today was a beautiful day and I wanted a pop of color while I was out running errands. I decided to match my favorite sunglasses and new scarf! Turquoise was speaking to me and this look did the trick.
On eyes: Urban Decay 24/7 Shadow Pencil in Clash (used as a liner), Too Faced Chocolate Bar eyeshadows in White Chocolate all over and Milk Chocolate in crease, Urban Decay Anti-Aging Primer Potion, Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner in Zero on upper waterline, Too Faced LashGasm Mascara, Anastasia brow powder.
On cheeks: Benefit Cosmetics Poisetint.
On lips: Clinique Long Last Glosswear in Kissyfit.
On face: Benefit Porefessional, Urban Decay Naked Skin foundation and 24/7 Concealer Pencil.
And if you’re interested, my earrings and scarf are from Charming Charlie, the sunglasses are from Francesca’s (but I bought them last year). Anyone want to share their Chic Week picks? I bought a few duds unfortunately, and they have been returned. 😦 However, I LOVE my new Too Faced finds from the Pardon My French set. Let me know what you scored in the comments!
From March 30-April 11, Sephora is having their annual 15% off sale. I’m SO excited because I will be attending the VIB Rouge private shopping event on Sunday morning. I’m starting my wish list now and the Urban Decay Electric palette is my #1 must-have. I didn’t see it in-store earlier this week, but it’s up online. Fortunately, you can shop online or in stores with no limit. What are your top picks?
Here’s my latest little haul, which includes the Radiant Rush Matte lipstick from Sephora + Pantone Color of the Year. So excited to try this… I’ll be posting a review soon.
I also picked up a Tocca hand cream and rollerball set in Florence, a yummy blend of gardenia and bergamot- so feminine and romantic! Florence isn’t one of the hand cream scents regularly available, so I was really excited to snag this. Plus, the rollerball is a decent size, slightly larger than a deluxe sample for comparison.
I also got two 100 point perks: Urban Decay Naked lipgloss in Lovechild and Too Faced Primed & Poreless oil free face primer. I haven’t tried the primer yet, but I like to carry a mini around in my daily makeup bag for emergencies. I quickly swiped the UD gloss and I wasn’t bowled over by the formula or saturation of color. I’ll stick with Lip Junkie, but I can always use a mini lippie for my purse. (Who’s with me??)
Finally, the free stuff. Honestly, sometimes I enjoy my freebies as much as my full-size products. 🙂 Samples are Fresh soy face cleanser, Katy Perry Killer Queen, Phyto Hydration Express conditioner, and a deluxe sample of Lancome Lip Lover in Framboise Etoile (a new product).
When it comes to online orders, something about a package bursting with little treats can be just as (sometimes more) satisfying as finding the latest mega-palette on my doorstep. What do you think?
Today’s look features colorful eyes courtesy of Too Faced’s Be Bright palette (part of the Be Merry & Bright release for holiday 2013). I used Marshmallow, a shimmery pink, from lash line to brow, then Bright Eyes (pearly hot pink) in the inner corners and Sequin (frosty dark teal) in the outer corners and crease. Both colors are also on each half of the lower lash line. I also tapped a little Mauvelous (glittery mauve) on the brow bone, but it’s not really visible in this lighting.
For everything else: Lollipop blush and Inner Light luminizer from Too Faced Be Bright palette on cheeks. Only a subtle wash of color is visible here but in natural light it looked like I dunked my whole head in teeny-tiny glitter…fun! Eyes: Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Perversion, Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara. Lips: Clinique Chubby Stick in Super Strawberry.
My name is Amanda and this is my new beauty blog! All my life I have loved dressing up and playing with makeup- more than a few of my childhood teddy bears suffered from excessive applications of my mom’s blush and eyeshadow taken covertly from her vanity. When I was younger, I was in dance and though I wasn’t great at the actual dancing, I lived for the costumes and makeup used for performances. Of course, Halloween is possibly my favorite holiday because I love to create unique looks (hello, office costume contest winner!). About three years ago I got into buying up high-end products like crazy, and my family and friends have told me that I should share my enthusiasm for the transformative powers of makeup with others! I love to read and write, which lead me to graduate with a journalism degree in 2010. But here’s my secret- I’m thinking about switching industries to a career in makeup artistry. Shh! 😉 This is my space to create, play and share it all with the world. I love anything bold and colorful!
Winter weather is still hanging on, but spring product releases are everywhere. This quick look is my tribute, focusing on bright, spring pastel eyes. It was created with Kat Von D’s Esperanza palette (limited edition, Sephora exclusive). This is a great release packed with eight beautiful shades in a mix of pastels and brights with matte and shimmer finishes. I found it tricky to work with at first, but Too Faced Glitter Glue saved the day- it’s my go-to product for dealing with glitter fallout and powdery shades that appear sheer with my daily primer, Urban Decay Primer Potion Original.
Products used include: eyes- Kat Von D eyeshadow from the Esperanza palette (Archangel and Selena), Anastasia brow powder, Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Perversion and Clinique High Impact mascara, lips- NARS lipstick in Dolce Vita (another fave!), skin- Urban Decay Naked Skin foundation. Soon I hope to post tutorials and full product lists for anyone interested in what I’m using (maybe even videos, who knows)! Anyone reading please let me know what you’d like to see. 🙂
Finally, I chose to call this blog “Create Something Beautiful Today” because every morning we all have the opportunity to do just that. I often think of my face as a blank canvas displaying beautiful yet fleeting art that will be washed away before bedtime. But creating beauty in life is not only about what we put on our faces, it’s about what we have in our hearts and minds. With a fresh face, we can create a beautiful life of our own choosing! I hope this blog will be a place where I can share my creativity and inspiration, and hopefully inspire others as well.
